Artist and wall needed:<\/p>\n
We are looking to create a large-scale mural on a prominent wall in
\nBed-Stuy. The mural will highlight Bedford-Stuyvesant\u2019s green assets,
\nincluding environmentally responsible businesses, restaurants that use
\nlocal foods, farmers markets, green learning centers and programs,
\ncommunity gardens, including key sites within the community\u2019s largest
\nand oldest green space, anchored by the Magnolia Tree Earth Center,
\nHerbert Von King Park and the Hattie Carthan Community Garden. The
\npurpose of the Map Mural is to be an effective tool for community
\nadvocacy, highlighting social, cultural and service resources of a
\nparticular geographical area.<\/p>\n
The mission is to help develop a community map that can assist with
\nthe identification of vacant public land for community gardens use,
\nhelp coordinate outreach around \u2018green\u2019 activities, and to support and
\nencourage networking among community activist, advocates and decision
\nmakers.

\nAs part of the initiative, we will work with local Bed-Stuy High
\nSchool Students where they will be given the opportunity to engage
\ntheir community on this very important level. The students will
\ncollaborate with the Bed-Stuy Community Eco Mapping Project and
\nMagnolia Tree Earth Center to make sketches for the mural. They will
\nconduct surveys in the neighborhood to collect data on sustainability
\nand will create icon stickers that can be displayed on store windows
\nand on the mural to raise awareness of business that promote and
\nencourage sustainability. The students will work with the Mural
